Nathaniel Ru co-founder of Sweetgreen’s

Nathaniel Ru was born in 1985 in Pasadena, CA. He has come to be known as being one of the co-founders of Sweetgreens. Ru graduated from Georgetown University with his B.S in Finance. It was after graduation that him and 2 of his Georgetown graduates was able to come together and start Sweetgreens.

 

Sweetgreens is known for being a restaurant that has a seasonal kitchen and focuses mainly on sustainability and local sourcing. The first location of Sweetgreens was located right at the heart of Georgetown. The restaurant has been able to expand into 27 different locations, located in 6 different states.

 

The 3 founders came up with the idea of Sweetgreens after they saw that their community needed more delicious, healthy and eco friendly restaurant options. In 2010 the 3 came together and was able the launch Sweetlife, this is one of the regions largest music and food festivals.. Each year there is over 20,000 people that is attracted to this event.

 

At Georgetown University,their senior year, is where the Sweetgreens dream started for the 3 founders. Just a short six years after that is when the Sweetgreens dream finally came to life. It so happened that the landlord at the tavern space was the same exact landlord as the apartment building right around the corner of where Ru and his friends use to live.

 

Currently, the owners of Sweetgreens is able to proudly say that they now have stores located right in the Northeast’s major cities and suburbs. This is one restaurant that isn’t going to stop till they reach the top. The restaurant has since then continued to serve healthy and fresh meals. Most of the healthy meals that Sweetgreens serves is made using ingredients that is bought from local farmers and purveyors.

 

The main goal of Sweetgreens has remained to be to make sure that each and every one of there stores lives up the Sweetgreens core values and also making sure that the customer leaves the restaurant highly satisfied. Sweetgreens is one restaurant that is going to go straight to the top of the food industry.
