Several high-level qualifications were awarded to a number of staff at the Sussex Health Care by the University of Chichester. This was during a celebratory event held by the company in early 2015. A total of six workers received a Level 5 Diploma in Professional Practice in Social Care offered by the centre. The level 5 diploma from the University of Chichester were offered to six successful workers after taking part in a one year qualification exercise. The diploma offers an alternative route for social workers who have attained a Level 4 Registered Managers Award or a Higher Apprenticeship to access higher education. This will enable such persons to progress with their studies further and enable them pursue a BA degree.
Reactions and Overview of the Diploma Program
According to Pia Parry, the head of Childhood Social Work and Care at the institution of higher learning, all students who had no prior experience in higher education exceeded expectations by performing well. The students undertaking the diploma had to attend workshops conducted monthly and studied at their own time. The assignments were also 50% work-based in order to reduce the time that the staffs were away from their duties. This also made their studies have a real impact on their professional duties. The program was a joint venture between Sussex health Care and the university and was delivered at Warnham, West Sussex, the institution’s training academy.
According to wikipedia.org Anne Tuckley from the education department of Sussex Health Centre stated that they were deeply proud of the great achievement. She also added that the institution appreciated the challenge that came with learning while at the same time working. The six students were given their certificates together with over 80 others who had managed to earn various qualifications from level three to five in leadership and management, social care, activity therapy and hospitality. Dr. Shafik Sachedina praised his staff on their achievements and stated that their newly acquired wisdom and knowledge would help in improving the lives of their clients.
