How Robert Ivy Sees Good Design As Necessary For Good Health

Robert Ivy’s mission in life is to share information about how architecture plays such a vital role in the day to day lives of people. He is the chief executive officer of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and as part of this mission he has written articles about architecture for Huffpost. He has stated many times that architecture is vital for both physical and mental wellbeing.

Design choices when creating a building and the choice of materials used have a huge impact on people, Robert Ivy has written on huffingtonpost.com. He points to comments by Dr. Richard Jackson, MD, who used to be the head of the CDC National Center for Environmental Health. Dr. Jackson had said that architects, planners, and designers have more influence over the health of the general public than any doctor does.

The Chinese philosophy of feng shui is all about how your surroundings can affect your health. It’s not just our physical mental health that is affected by the buildings we occupy but even our moods and temperaments. Our lived-in environments are very important and good design can have a dramatic effect on improving the lives of the people who make use of the building.

Robert Ivy also points out that the materials we use to build structures and furnish them have health consequences. Many things that people bring indoors have toxic chemicals in them. For example, the “new carpet smell” so many people are attracted to is an off-gas that is toxic and can cause both nausea and dizziness. By using more environmentally responsible materials a home or business can be free of these toxic chemicals.

Robert Ivy earned his architecture degree at Tulane University in 1976. For many years he worked in an architectural firm he had helped establish. After 20 years he joined McGraw-Hill Companies where he became their new editor in chief. He was the chief editor for many of their publications with the most important one being Architectural Record, the most read publication in the industry. He has won the G.D. Crain Award for his lifetime contributions in the industry.

In February 2011 he attained his present position at the AIA. His organization advocates for architects as well as affiliated occupations. It has chapters throughout the world and everyone who becomes a member pledges to uphold the highest standards of the architectural profession. This organization is based in Washington D.C. and promotes good design with both its members, government officials, and the general public.

Since Robert Ivy became the CEO of the AIA he has pushed it into the 21st century by incorporating new technology and otherwise streamlining operations. Because of his efforts the AIA is now responsive and proactive in pushing good design decisions. One of his primary goals is making the general public more aware of the role architecture plays in their lives.

End Citizens United In A Major Boost For Democrat Conor Lambs Bid For Pennsylvania

Conor Lamb got a boost in his bid for the Pennsylvania District Congress seat when End Citizens United announced its support for him. Running on a Democratic ticket, Lamb hopes to clinch the seat against his Republican rival Rick Saccone. The seat fell vacant after the resignation of Tim Murphy who has held it since 2003.

End Citizens United is a Political Action Committee that is opposed to corporations funding political action committees. In 2010, the Supreme Court ruled that PACs were free to get funding from corporations. Those opposed to the idea argue that doing so is opening up US elections to be determined by who spends the most in their campaign. This shifts from the traditions in which politicians are elected based on their policy and agenda for the people and the nation.

This PAC came into existence in 2015. Their funds come from donations from small grass root groups. Although they are supporting Lamb, they are not affiliated with any political party. They offer their support to any candidate who ascribes to their goal of combating huge political funding from groups with selfish interests.

End Citizens United supports candidates hoping to get a majority of legislators who can move a constitutional amendment against the Supreme Court ruling on political action committees funding.

Conor Lamb has hinged his campaign on the promise to represent marginalized Pennsylvanian families. He has vowed not to accept donations from corporate leaders. However, he can receive funding from trade unions.

Unlike Lamb, Rick Saccone is being funded by wealthy corporate executives. They have spent $1.5 million in adverts, and they are ready to pump in more. They view 39-year-old Lamb as a strong candidate for the Democrats and are afraid he may outwit their Republican candidate. This fact became clear when President Donald Trump flew to Pennsylvania to drum up support for Saccone.

There are indications that more democratic supporters are following the race than Republican supporters in Pennsylvania district are. Although they supported Trump in his elections, they are disappointed with his performance. They argue that in the same way an army officer is removed for non-performance, a president like Trump should be removed if he fails to deliver on his promises.

Analysts report that with less than a month to the special election, voter turnout will determine the outcome.

Roberto Santiago Manaira Mall a Thrill for Shoppers and Revelers

Roberto Santiago’s Manaira Mall in an expression of genius in design and location. The mall, covering 75,000 meters square, is sandwiched between two beaches, giving shoppers and revelers a panoramic view of the beaches and the ocean. It is located in his hometown of Joao Pessoa in Brazil.

The proprietor of the mall, Robert Santiago, is a resident of the Northern Brazilian city, Joao Pessoa located in Paraiba state. He graduated from the University of Joao Pessoa with a degree in Business Administration.

He worked at a small manufacturing company in Brazil, Café Santa Rosa as a fresh graduate. With his savings from this job, he opened his company Cartonnage that sold cardboard-made cartons to clients around the country.

Using the savings from the sales that his company made, he purchased the land on which he built his first shopping mall, the Manaira Mall. Even though he was only thirty years at the time, he went ahead to construct the expansive and exquisitely designed mall. It took him two years from 1987 to 1989 to execute this project to completion.

The mall is a major attraction for local and international visitors recording over 1.5 million visitors each month. It houses a number of international fashion stores, ultra-modern movie theaters, a food court, financial institutions, a fully equipped gym, a college and a gaming area. The games in the gaming area are suitable for people of all ages.

At the rooftop, the mall has a concert hall with a capacity of four thousand guests seated and ten thousand standing. It is fitted with high tech sound system and is popular with local and international artists who regularly hold concerts there. The air conditioning and soundproofed walls add to its comfort and allure. Weddings, graduations, conferences, and exhibitions are some occasions that take place there.

Roberto Santiago launched his second mall in the city in 2013. The second mall is known as the Mangiera. It is equally as exquisite as the first mall.

These two investments had raised the status of the city giving other local and international investors the confidence to venture in the city. In turn, the locals have gained from the jobs created and a world-class facility for shopping and fun. Investor confidence increased more in 2015 when the malls survived the economic crash that swept through the country. They did not feel the effect that many other businesses felt.

Robert Santiago is a role model to budding entrepreneurs. He has invested in real estate, entertainment and stocks.

American Institute Of Architects: Improving Professionalism And Respect For Architects For 160 Years

The American Institute of Architects is the premier professional organization for architects living and working in the United States. Founded in New York in 1857. Its goal are to improve the public image and provide support, education, community redevelopment, government advocacy and public outreach. From the AIA headquarters in Washington, D.C., the organization works with its large and growing membership in its over 300 branches worldwide to help maintain high standards and coordinate the building industry through its design and construction teams.

Prior to the establishment of the AIA, anyone could claim to be an architect. The American Institute of Architects helped to set the professional standards and level of education and training required before a person can claim licensed membership in the profession. In 2010, the AIA board named famed architect, writer and editor Robert IVY, FAIA CEO and executive vice president of the organization. He took over leadership of the AIA in February 2011. A dedicated AIA member, in the 1990s Ivy was on the organization’s board. He has long advocated for architects on important social, environmental and political issues that affect the build environment.

After graduating from Tennessee-based University of the South with a bachelor’s degree and from Tulane University with a master’s in architecture, Robert Ivy went on to have an illustrious career. He was Dean/Dale, Dean and Ivy’s managing partner and Ivy Architects principal for 14 years and in 1993 became an AIA College of Fellows member. In 1996, Robert Ivy was hired as Architectural Record’s editor-in-chief. Under his leadership the publication won dozens of awards and became the world’s most widely read architectural publication. In 2009, American Business Media gave Ivy the Crane Award for lifetime contribution he made to business media. It’s their highest honor.

The architectural fraternity Alpha Rho Chi unanimously named Robert Ivy Master Architect in 2010 for his work in communicating to a new generation the value of architectural design. Ivy was only the 7th person bestowed that designation in the fraternity’s 100 year history. As AIA CEO, he has collaborated with the organizations members worldwide to demonstrate the value of design, focus the organization on design and practice issues and enhance the AIA’s voice and ability to improve the understanding of architecture and architects by the public.

The combination of Robert Ivy’s industry experience, passion for the profession and leadership style has enhanced the AIA’s value and effectiveness.

Larkin & Lacey

Back in 2004, a reporter by the name of John Dougherty published stuff about Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s life. He published information about Arpaio’s land ownership, as well as where he lived. This really angered Joe Arpaio, who used state laws to try to bring the hammer down on Dougherty and the two men, Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey, who ran the publication.

There is actually a law in Arizona that makes it illegal to publish the address of where a law enforcement official lives if it is interpreted as a malicious act. What makes the act “malicious” is the idea that the act was done to decrease the level of safety and security in the law enforcement official’s life.

There is also a law in the state of Arizona where law enforcement officials can opt to have land ownership of commercial lands removed from public records, for safety reasons.

Larkin and Lacey do not agree with these laws and feel that they go against people’s First Amendment rights. However, when you think about it, there are some pretty good reasons for these laws.

For example, even though law enforcement officials are in a position of power where they can impose brute force, they are still human beings. In their position, law enforcement officials are putting themselves in vulnerable spots where they are exposing themselves to to every type of person.

Even if their places of residences are on public records, publishing their addresses in publications may inspire strangers to stalk them or come to their addresses.

Was it really necessary for Dougherty to publish someone else’s address in a newspaper? This is the reason why the act of doing that was interpreted as being a malicious threat to Arpaio’s safety, as well as the safety of everyone in his family.

Larkin and Lacey’s publications have a vehemently anti-Arpario theme to them. This is because of the fact that both men have very leftist views. They are concerned with the issues of racism, nativism, hate toward LGBTQ people and the repression of the First Amendment.

Sheriff Arpaio, in an attempt to be “America’s Toughest Sheriff,” pulled over any Latino that he could find on a search for “illegal aliens.”

The unfortunate thing is that there happens to be a relatively high amount illegal aliens within the Hispanic population, so whether or not Arpaio was actually being racist, in some ways he could be called “racist.”

How Louis Chenevert Grew UTC

There is no doubt in anybody’s mind that Louis Chenevert is a legendary businessman. He was able to lead the United Technologies Corporation through its most difficult years during the global recession in the mid 2000’s. During his time at the company, he was able to take the company’s stock and nearly triple it while he was the Chief Executive Officer. This wonderful work led to them having a party to celebrate his work upon his departure.

During the party, many executives and workers told stories on how Louis Chenevert was able to turn around the United Technologies Corporation. They said the first thing he was able to do was position the United Technologies Corporation to connect with the trends of culture. He had foreseen that countries would soon become more friendly toward the environment and moved the United Technologies Corporation to the point that it was able to capitalize on these trends. He worked with the engineering department to lower both the water consumption and carbon emissions so that they could continue to compete when countries passed stricter regulations.

They also spoke on how Louis Chenevert was able to stabilize the United Technologies Corporation during that recession. His strategy for stabilizing the United Technologies Corporation was to help the executives diversify the portfolio. This strategy was simple since United Technologies Corporation was taking a hit in their main product, they needed to offset the deficit by other profit generating mechanisms.

Louis Chenevert scouted out many companies and selected three that would really help United Technologies Corporation thrive. The first company he acquired was Pratt & Whitney. His reason behind this was to secure their valuable ten year long government contracts. This led United Technologies Corporation to becoming the largest helicopter producer in the world. He then acquired the world’s oldest elevator company Otis. This was to secure that company’s connections to corporate infrastructure. Lastly, he acquired the nearest competitor, Goodrich, for $16.3 billion.

The executives also told how Louis Chenevert was able to decrease the spending all of United Technologies Corporation which helped the stock rise.
